Irish House Party - for Primer, Level 1A & 1B, Level 2:
Featuring Irish Folk Songs for a St. Patrick's Day Celebration or for Irish songs anytime of the year! This book extends over 2 - 3 years, from primer level to level 2+.
Contents: 14 St. Patrick’s Day Sing-A-Long favorites in total: The first 12 pieces begin at Middle C Position (Primer, Level 1A), passing the melody between the two hands, and continue in order of difficulty: “Sweet Rosie O’Grady”, “When Irish Eyes Are Smiling”, “Who Threw The Overalls In Mistress Murphy’s Chowder?”, “Too-Ra-Loo-Ra’Loo-Ral”, “Mother Machree”, “My Wild Irish Rose”, “Harrigan”, “It’s A Long Way To Tipperary”, “The Irish Washerwoman/Irish Jig”, “Peg O’ My Heart”, “Londonderry Air/ Danny Boy” & “I’ll Take You Home Again Kathleen”.
Some secondary rests are omitted at this level. “Molly Malone/Cockles & Mussels” uses a L.H. chord accompaniment (C position). The final & festive “MacNamara’s Band” in 6/8, is in middle C position, with right hand melody, left hand harmony notes and a bit of hands crossing over for fun!
This 36-page music book/workbook with its bright colored pictures, practice concepts and keyboard references encourages students to "highlight or color", (using with highlighters or colored pencils) the musical concepts outlined in a check off box included at the top of each piece. The accompaniment CD (with a two-measure count-off) features a slow, practice speed accompaniment, and faster CD track for a faster performance tempo.
Pictures of traditional & popular Celtic instruments, information on Ireland (pot o’ gold, shamrocks, leprechauns, art, music, St. Patrick’s Day, Irish religion & history), a music theory “Fun Page” (unscrambling Irish facts, note values at the pot of gold, and musical terms), a drawing page and student time capsule, all inspire fun, practice & learning, making this a cultural learning experience!
With the addition of the Concept Help Box and CD accompaniment, elementary aged beginner students and adult beginners are enjoying the learning process of these pieces, on their own! Teachers can do each piece in a solo or group setting.
