Hanukkah House Party - for Primer, Level 1A & 1B, Level 2:
Contents: 10 favorite songs in total. The first 9 pieces begin at Middle C Position (Primer, Level 1A) and continue in order of difficulty: Pieces are: "Blessings of the Hanukkah Candles (slightly harder than the first few, but a perfect way to begin your evening house party - with a prayer. Next, is the easiest, "I Have A Little Dreydl", then in order of difficulty: "My Hanukkah Candles", "Hanukkah", "L'vivot" (latkah - a potato pancake), "Round & Round Dreydl Spin" (S'vivon), "O Hanukkah, O Hanukkah", "Rock of Ages", "Who Can Retell", a theory page on the Story of Hanukkah with Keyboard Note Recognition. The Collection ends with Hava Nagliah, not specifically a song for Hanukkah, but a song of celebration! Secondary rests are omitted at this book level. The book extends over 2 - 3 Hanukkah seasons.
The 28-page book is set up as a workbook with an art page and fun theory page, and encourages students to "highlight / color", (using with highlighters or colored pencils) the concepts outlined on the CD HELP track for each piece. Teachers can do each piece in a solo or group setting. Each piece's CD HELP track is an automatic lesson plan, laid out in logical "How-Do-I-Learn-This-Piece" order. Teachers or students simply pause the CD to do each step.
The 2nd CD track for each piece features a slow, practice speed accompaniment, with a two-measure count off. The student part is heard along with the accompaniment. The 3rd CD track for each piece is at a faster, performance speed. The accompaniment is adjusted to this level of playing i.e. altered slightly from the accented original translation.
Pictures, practice concepts and keyboard references are included for each piece. The text has been translated with the help of our neighborhood Rabbi, and our jewish piano students. Students: sing the words with translations and pronunciations as you are accustomed to in hebrew school.
